Residential Treatment Centers in Lake Ozark, Missouri
Calo Preteens and Calo Teens have merged to create Calo Programs, the first residential treatment centers in Lake Ozark, Missouri focused on adopted preteens and teens. The programs implement a true relational-based treatment approach to create change from the inside out – heart first and behavior second. Signs Our Residential Treatment Center Can Help
We understand how difficult it can be to see your loved one struggling, and we’re here to help. Here are five signs that our RTC could help:
- Severe Behavioral or Emotional Issues: Frequent aggressive or defiant behaviors, such as outbursts, rule-breaking, or conflicts with authority figures.
- Unsafe Living at Home: Engaging in behaviors that put themselves or others at risk, such as self-harm or aggression, requiring 24/7 supervision and care.
- Other Treatment Options Aren’t Working: When outpatient therapy, IOP, or PHP aren’t able to help, an RTC can provide around-the-clock care and support for your teen.
- Inability to Maintain a Routine: Struggling to wake up on time, attend school regularly, or complete basic tasks like eating or sleeping.
- Frequent Family Conflict or Social Isolation: Ongoing tension at home or withdrawal from all social relationships, making it hard to heal without a break from the current environment.

What to Expect
Students enrolled in our residential treatment center participate in weekly family and individual therapy, although at times, a crisis may change the frequency of the therapy. Calo Programs rely on family support and encourage family members to visit every 4-8 weeks. Each student is also encouraged to call his or her family weekly. Additionally, Calo hosts 4 annual parent events to give families an opportunity to connect with others who are on the same journey while engaging therapeutically with their child and therapists. The average stay for students varies as they prioritize emotional, mental, behavioral, and physical health. Please consult an admissions counselor about your specific situation.

Residential Treatment and Transitional Living Programs
Our residential treatment and transitional living options are open to both females and males. Calo has a preteen program for boys and girls between the ages of 10-13 while their teen program serves older teens, ages 14-18. Both programs use unique interventions like adventure therapy, canine therapy, and neurofeedback therapy while also prioritizing academics and helping students balance the demands of life, play, and school.
Residential Therapies and Treatments Offered
Calo primarily helps students impacted by trauma such as from adoptions (or more accurately relinquishment from birth parents), chronic stress, disruptions in early childhood, and inconsistent care from caregivers.
