What Is a Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program at Embark?
Our therapists and specialists are committed to providing your family with the most accessible online therapy to help your adolescent or teen age 12-18 throughout their healing journey. That's why we offer a virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP), providing you with premium online mental health treatment and support for overcoming issues like OCD through therapies like exposure and response prevention (ERP).

What Is a Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program at Embark?
Our insurance-reimbursed virtual intensive outpatient program connects you to select state-of-the-art outpatient clinics and therapists through our secure patient portal. This is a convenient way for your adolescent, teen, and family to receive our high-quality care when attending in person is not an option or a virtual setting is preferred. Our online IOP provides individual and group therapy for your son or daughter as well as family therapy sessions to help meet your family’s needs.
What Are the Benefits of a Virtual IOP?

Flexibility
A virtual IOP gives your adolescent or teen the flexibility to connect with a therapist from home to overcome behavioral health challenges like OCD, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and substance use.

Industry-Leading Therapists
Embark’s industry-leading online therapists offer virtual IOP treatment to adolescents and teens in select locations for issues like OCD.

Measurable Results
Our therapists provide measurable information that shows you how far your child has progressed in our virtual intensive outpatient program.

A Unique Approach to Creating a Therapeutic Relationship
Embark’s virtual IOP is guided by the CASA Developmental Framework, a unique developmental framework our therapists and specialists use to help adolescents and teens struggling with issues like OCD, bipolar disorder (BPD), and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). CASA stands for commitment, acceptance, security, and attunement (also known as empathy in action).

Convenience
Our secure patient portal lets your family easily access premium therapy from wherever you need us.

Accessibility
We aim to meet you where you’re at and that may be in a location that doesn’t have viable in-person treatment options. We can also serve as an option for those who prefer to be at home or are waiting to get into an in-person program. We’re here to help you navigate getting the quality care you need.

Attendance Reminders
Our patient portal will send you reminders so you and your child never miss a session. In addition, the convenience of accessing therapy from wherever you are has been shown to increase attendance rates, which helps drive better outcomes.

Our Virtual Therapists and IOP Team
How a Virtual IOP Works

During online IOP treatment, your adolescent or teen will spend three hours per day, four days per week in a variety of interactive group therapy sessions. They’ll also have weekly individual sessions and online family therapy once every other week with our therapists and specialists to overcome issues like OCD.
We’ll make the experience as engaging as possible, with your child receiving supplies for experiential activities throughout the 12-week curriculum. At the end of the program, we’ll work closely with you on discharge planning and next steps.
Virtual IOP Enrollment
You’ll connect with an intake clinician and coordinator to get familiar with the program and complete your intake paperwork.
Your child will take a mental health assessment and psychiatric evaluation.
You’ll log into the patient portal to access program information and see the IOP schedule.
A therapist will reach out to discuss a treatment plan and goals for your child.
