Lydia Peabody (she/her) is a curious and compassionate mental health therapist licensed in Maryland. Raised in a family that emphasized using advocacy when faced with adversity, from an early age, Lydia understood the importance of giving back to the community. As a Maryland native, she enjoys working with children and families in the area she grew up in. Lydia comes to us with significant experience working with adolescents and young adults in a variety of PHP, IOP, residential, and group home settings in the DMV. Lydia is passionate about community support and believes in the efficacy of PHP/IOP treatment.

Lydia is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Lydia furthered her education at the Univesity of Maryland, Baltimore, where she received a Master of Social Work with a concentration in clinical social work and behavioral health. During her graduate studies, Lydia earned two prestigious fellowships. Through SUDWE, Lydia received specialized training in the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders. As an RA Scholar, Lydia supported clinical research and training programs for low-income families experiencing trauma.

Lydia utilizes a warm and empathetic, person-centered approach to psychotherapy. She believes in the inherent value of all people, and looks for ways to authenticaly connect with her clients. Lydia draws from modalities such as attachment-based therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), experientials such as art and music, and somatic practices. Lydia conceptualizes mental health through a systemic lens, recognizing the influence and interconnectedness of systems and the self.

Outside of clinical work, Lydia loves being out outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and engaging in anything active. You can find her practicing yoga, reading, and attending lots of concerts!
