Amy Adkins
Amy Adkins, LCSW
Amy Adkins was born and raised in Utah County. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Utah Valley University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Family Studies. After graduating, Amy began working as an Instructional Assistant at Utah Valley University teaching introductory psychology classes. She went back to school and graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Brigham Young University in 2019.
Amy has worked for Adult Probation and Parole providing therapy services to individuals transitioning out of prison and into the community. In this position, she became versed in substance abuse treatment, trauma-informed treatment, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and assessing and addressing criminogenic risk factors. She has also worked at ScenicView Academy, which is a residential school for young adults with autism and other learning differences. At ScenicView Academy, Amy learned how to utilize autism-specific interventions and treat comorbid disorders such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Amy also participated in the Strengthening Families program as a facilitator teaching classes to families on communication and relationship skills.
Amy specializes in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and received a trauma certificate through BYU’s MSW program by completing 200 hours of trauma-informed care. In addition, she has received a certificate in School Social Work practice.
Amy loves New Haven because of the loving, family-based approach. She believes that lasting change is achieved through families working together to accomplish desired goals.
In her spare time, Amy enjoys eating burritos, taking naps, singing at the top of her lungs, watching sports, listening to true crime podcasts, spending time with family, playing with her dog, traveling, and going on adventures with her perfect husband.
