Campbell Outpatient Program FAQ

During outpatient counseling at our Campbell clinic, your adolescent, teen, or young adult will meet with a local therapist while maintaining their daily schedule. For those who have moderate mental health symptoms and a daily routine that’s not negatively impacting their mental well-being, outpatient therapy or an intensive outpatient program may be a good option.

Outpatient visits to our clinic can involve weekly counseling sessions with one of our Campbell therapists. We also offer group therapy through our intensive outpatient and therapeutic day treatment programs.

There are many benefits to outpatient treatment at our Campbellclinic. Our programs allow adolescents, teens, and young adults to maintain work and school schedules and receive support from friends and family while receiving counseling — and at a more affordable cost on average than most inpatient treatment options.

The goal of outpatient therapy at our program is to help adolescents, teens, and young adults overcome difficult behavioral health issues like anxiety and depression through visiting one of our Campbell therapists for weekly individual counseling sessions or an intensive outpatient or therapeutic day treatment program.

The main difference between weekly individual counseling sessions, the intensive outpatient program, and the therapeutic day treatment program at our Campbell clinic is how long your adolescent, teen, or young adult will spend in treatment. Weekly individual therapy sessions require the least amount of time and can be scheduled at a specific time of day. An intensive outpatient program takes place in the evening to accommodate school and work schedules and typically meets three hours a day, three to four days per week, for a total of nine to 12 hours per week. A therapeutic day treatment program typically meets 5.5 hours a day, five days a week, for a total of 27.5 hours per week.

The length of outpatient treatment depends on each child's particular needs and whether they’re attending weekly individual therapy sessions or participating in a therapeutic day treatment or intensive outpatient program in Campbell. On average, outpatient care at our clinic can last from three months to one year. If a deeper level of service is needed, adolescents, teens, and young adults can step up a level of care to an inpatient hospitalization.

Everyone at Embark Campbell has shown kindness and compassion to our family during a very difficult time. Their patience with my kid has helped them open up and learn valuable tools to share and understand their emotions.

Embark in Campbell has been amazing for my family! We had tried different programs for our child and all but lost hope for them to connect and engage in therapy. Everyone we met has been so kind and supportive, and our kid has really started to open up with the other kids in the group, and even with us at home. They don’t just work with our child, but also with us in weekly family therapy which has helped us understand better ways to communicate and behave to support them. For anyone struggling with their teens behaviors or emotions, I would definitely recommend reaching out to Embark!

This place is amazing. The kindness and caring from all the staff is beyond what anyone could expect from a treatment facility. They go above and beyond to help their clients by giving them the necessary tools and support. What I found most remarkable about this team of caregivers is that from the moment we walked in the door, they made us feel like we mattered. The compassion shows with their interactions with clients AND their families. If you need help and if you need to know you matter, this is the right place for you. Compassion, empathy, and support are the true cornerstone to making recovery from mental health issues successful, and every member of the staff at Embark has all those attributes. We feel very fortunate to have found them!!!

The team at Embark has exceeded our expectations. We sought care for our teen from many other programs in the South Bay and they don’t come close to what the Embark team offered to our child. Our teen reports that for the first time, in a long time, they felt heard by their therapist and respected. There’s simply no better program.

I visited Embark in my capacity as a Head of School for a local private school. I was immediately impressed with their beautiful facility, which I feel confident would put teens and parents at ease. They also have two adorable therapy dogs who are a pleasure! I've met with several different administrators at this new Campbell location and have been impressed with their background and dedication to helping families. In a time when finding mental health services can be a real challenge, I'm so glad Embark opened in our area - I would not hesitate to refer one of my families to them.

I am so glad that I found this program. My daughter started going to Embark's 3-day per week intensive outpatient program (IOP) about one month ago. She was filled with apprehension at first since she had a very negative experience at the last IOP place that she participated in (at Aspire Los Gatos). The staff and therapists at Embark has been wonderful! The approach is more hands on and allows the teens to express their issues in either a group and/ or a private setting. I also appreciate that the group size is much smaller and intimate. The facility is beautiful and provides a warm and comfortable environment for the teens. It doesn't feel like a "hospital" unlike the other place that she initially attended. I highly recommend this place!
