Oregon mental health center FAQ

How do youths transition back home?

We want to make sure whole-family healing can take place, which is why we provide therapeutic coaching and support for the entire family. Once your son, daughter, or LGBTQ+ child completes our program, we will work with you and your local healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless and successful return home.

How soon can my child start at your Oregon mental health treatment center?

When treatment can start depends on the availability of the program, but we work quickly to ensure your child is admitted as soon as possible. Our admissions specialists help guide you through the process so your child and family can effectively begin the healing journey.

How do caregivers discuss going to an inpatient mental health facility with their child?

Help motivate your child or teen to embrace this type of treatment by asking open-ended questions about their situation and how this experience could improve it. Reassure them you’ll provide support by participating in family therapy during their stay and maintaining regular communication with them while they’re at the facility. Share a few testimonials from our Embark locations.

How do residential treatment centers differ from other inpatient programs?

The biggest difference between a typical inpatient treatment program and residential mental health facilities is the environment. While a typical inpatient facility has a hospitalization environment, RTCs provide healing, nurturing settings where young people can work through difficult mental health issues like trauma, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and even benefit from techniques such as mindfulness practices, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Why do adolescents go to our Oregon mental health treatment center?

Youth go to our inpatient mental health center because of the intensive care they provide for a wide range of conditions such as self-harm, BPD, and ADHD.

Our residential facilities can be a wonderful option for adolescents and teens who have safety issues, lack support at home, or need a high level of care after inpatient hospitalization or outpatient treatment.

How will my child’s individual needs be met?

Embark's residential mental health facilities are well-equipped to meet the individual and special needs of each youth in their care. Upon admission, a comprehensive assessment of medical history is conducted to determine your child’s unique needs, including any mental health conditions, substance use issues or substance use disorders, dual diagnosis, or behavioral issues. This assessment serves as the foundation for creating a personalized treatment plan tailored specifically to address your son, daughter, or LGBTQ+ child’s challenges and goals.

How effective are Embark's mental health treatment centers?

At Embark Behavioral Health, we’re proud to share the impactful outcomes our treatment centers achieved in 2023. From admission to discharge, clients experienced significant improvements in their mental health and well-being, including:

  • 43% decrease in distress
  • 44% reduction in depression
  • 41% decrease in anxiety
