RTC and transitional living frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What options are available for families who want to use their mental health insurance benefits?

OPI offers private pay and insurance billing with housing options. We bill all clinical aspects of treatment at the residential treatment, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) levels of care. We are out-of-network for all private insurance companies and do not accept Medi-Cal, Medi-Caid, Tri-Care or HMO plans. For more information about insurance billing, please call our admissions team at 818-906-4884.

What is the tuition for OPI?

We would be happy to discuss this with you. Please give our Admissions team a call at 818-906-4884.

Which airport do we fly into?

There are two local airports both about 25 miles away. The Bob Hope Airport (Burbank) is smaller and while it generally has less traffic to get to and from our offices, it has a smaller range of flight options.

When can I visit my child once they admit?

We encourage parents to refrain from visiting during the first 30 days of treatment. Beyond that it’s best to be in contact with the client’s therapist/case manager regarding when it would be appropriate to visit. Clients are required to have a cell phone so parents are able to keep in touch.

What is the average length of stay?

Our programs are highly individualized and the average length of stay varies depending on each person's needs. Please consult an admissions counselor about your specific situation.

What is the average age of the students in your program?

Our transitional living program serves clients ages from 17 to 28, while our residential treatment center helps young adults ages 18-28. Our average age is 22 years old.
